Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the little mermaid!
I know this is one day early but I had to post the pictures! I figured the costume was very fitting since we live at the beach. I made the bottom part of the costume and the shell bra is real. We picked up some shells on one of our walks and Matt drilled holes in them so she could wear them. Anyway, hope all of you have a good day and enjoy the pictures!

Rolling Over

By the way, Sydney started to roll over. The problem with that is she hates to be on her stomach so when she rolls over in her crib within a few minutes she lets us know how unhappy she really is. So much for that easy going baby I previously talked about! : )

The Catch of the Day

Matt went fishing this weekend with a neighbor. He caught 2 bass. Here is a picture of "the big one!" He looks so proud doesn't he?

At the beach

We went to the beach this weekend. Sydney was a good sport even though she was kinda tired. She didn't mind being put in the water, but that's just Sydney- she's pretty easing going, well 90% of the time. The other 10% is when she is really tired and just wants to go to bed.

My Halloween Craft

One of the great things about being a stay-at-home mom is I get to watch Martha Stewart's show. Well, I think it's great. I saw this on her show and decided to make it. It's a candy dish (the goodies goes in its mouth) - not that we'll be putting candy in it. Matt and I, being the "concerned citizens" we are, decided to single-handedly fight childhood obesity this year and hand out granola bars for Halloween! I'll let you know if we get egged! : ) Anyway, I am super excited about Sydney's costume. A few know what she is going to be dressed up as - but the rest will just have to wait and be surprised! Also, with the candy dish, it does look like Martha (our cat named Martha not Martha Stewart) but only WAY friendlier!! On a side note: our cat is not named after Martha Stewart either!
Whew - what a random post huh? Hopefully it all makes sense. It does in my head and I guess that's what matters! : )

Basking in the Florida sun

The weather cooled down for a couple days but now we are back up to being hot! We took full advantage of the great weather though. We hung outside more, went to the zoo, and took longer walks in the afternoon. Sydney loves to go for walks which is great for me and Dixie. She makes herself so comfortable in the stroller - that will be another picture in itself. Anyway, here is the "little miss" lounging around.
Sydney prefers her hand to the pacifier these days. She usually just sucks on two fingers but sometimes she'll try to fit her whole fist in her mouth. Notice the shirt is covered in drool! Nice.

When Lizards Fight Back

Martha likes to go outside on the screened-in back porch and catch lizards. She is excellent at catching them. When she gets them, she brings them to the glass door and starts meowing (with them in her mouth). She acts like she is bringing me a present - thanks but no thanks! She never kills the lizards. She just likes to play with them. Well today...a lizard fought back! As you can see in the picture (taken from inside the house of course) the lizard clamped down on Martha's paw. Martha didn't know what to do. She was just standing there meowing with her paw in the air - with the lizard still hanging on. The lizard would not let go! The lizard hung in there - I have to say for maybe about 45 seconds. After it had let go Martha didn't play with him anymore. She was ready to come back inside. The lizard had won! Don't worry - Martha is just fine (maybe except her big ego - which needed to deflate a little bit anyway)!

Open Wide

I thought this was a funny picture of Sydney trying to fit the whole ring into her mouth. I give her an "A" for effort!

Back on the Water - only this time with Sydney!

This was our first boat trip with Sydney. The trip didn't last all that long but at least we got to enjoy some great Florida weather (we sure do love it down here). Here is Sydney with her Elton John sunglasses and her hot pink bikini.

Here she is with her super-sized life jacket. It is an infant size - it's just so huge on her. She was getting cranky at this point because she was getting tired and unhappy with the vest - so we put a cork in her (aka: the pacifier). She fell asleep as soon as we hopped into the car to drive home.

Well, where is live we get to see some very neat animals living in their natural habitat. We see dolphins, manatees, and aligators all the time. Here is one aligator we saw on our trip this weekend. He was about 5 ft long.

I love dad!

Here is Matt & Sydney on Saturday morning. She is wearing her "I love Dad" pjs.

She's 4 months!

Here is a super cheesy smile! This picture makes me laugh - she makes the funniest faces sometimes. And yes - she is wearing a Texas A&M outfit! Gig'em.

We went to the doctor today. She is 25 inches long and weighs 15 lbs.

Queen Martha

Here's Martha who thinks the world revolves around her and also thinks she can do whatever she pleases whenever she pleases - needless to say I'm a dog person!

Just a couple more pictures

Here is Sydney smiling - once again!

Here is Sydney's "just hanging out" face.

Rolling Over

She is about half way to rolling over. She gets on her side well but needs that extra "oomph" to get all the way over. I'm sure she'll have in down in a few weeks. She does move around well on her side, when I put her in the crib to sleep within a few minutes she has turned herself 180°. It's very funny to watch.

She's almost driving!

Here is Sydney playing in a car/excersaucer type thing - I know this isn't the greatest picture but it works for the blog. She can basically touch the floor (on level 1). She is very good at pushing herself back in it - until she hits a wall anyway! I do add the towel for a little extra stability. She puts her hands on the red steering wheel and she actually looks like she's driving - scary I know!

Smiling Sydney

Sydney smiles so much these days. Even when she fussing she'll break out into a smile - she really loses all her creditability when she pulls that one. She is also becoming so tall. Matt and I are pretty average people so I don't know where she is getting it from. I am anxious to see her height & weight at her 4 month appt in a couple weeks. By the way this picture really doesn't do her justice - because when she does smile, it'll melt your heart just like it does mine. I think I'll keep her! : )

Pals

Here is Dixie & Sydney. This is as close as Dixie will get- that is until Sydney starts eating solid food then Dixie will want to be her best friend.

Does she look like me?

Here is a set of pictures - you can judge for yourselves. Does she look like me? The picture in the upper left corner is of me and my brother. I was 3 months in that picture. Sydney just turned 3 months yesterday. I tried to get pictures of her with the same facial expression as me in the picture! Let me know what you think!

Some New Pictures!

I finally caught Sydney smiling in a picture. I swear it is so hard to get her to smile when she can see the camera!

This was taken right after her evening bath given by the goofy guy in the picture!! She's wearing a hooded towel that is a pig. It's even got a curly tail on the backside.

Here is a picture of Sydney in her new pjs.

Finally, here is a picture of us. She definitely isn't liking the camera at this moment!

Off to prepare for our first storm of the season - Ernesto. And no worries - we'll be just fine.

Look at this cute baby!!

Here's a picture we took this past weekend. The outfit is a denim with the pink flowers at the top - one of my favorites (so I'm sure you will see more pics of her in it)!! Girls clothes are so cute and irresistible - you should see her closet these days! We all have been doing great. She has had some trouble taking good naps during the past couple days but she still is sleeping absolutely great at night - so I'll take it. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for all the nice comments in the posts and emails.

Just the Two of Us

Here's the two of us. Just playing together. Sydney is doing really well. She is consistently sleeping for longer periods at night (anywhere from 5-6 hrs). Last night she went for 6 1/2 hours - which is great - even though I have to admit she has never had a night where she has kept us up crying or anything - we have been so blessed with that!

Funny Face

Here is one of many funny faces that Sydney makes. She doesn't like the camera. As soon as I point the camera at her all the smiles go away and the funny faces begin. Which is very problematic for me as a scrapbooker and problematic for her too since I try to take pictures of her at least twice a day.

Who's the sucker here?

I can't even tell you how many pictures I have just like this. I don't know who enjoys it more - Matt or Sydney? Matt likes it because he gets to take a nap and 'watch' the baby at the same time. Now Sydney - well, let's just say she is one smart baby. Sure she sleeps just fine in her bed but I think she likes to pull this stunt because she butters up her dad. She's making investments for the future (asking for $, a car, etc). She is already starting to wrap him around her tiny little fingers - oops did I type "already starting"? Yeah, that should be she HAS him wrapped...

Sydney is 2 months!

Sydney went to the doctor today. It was her 2 month appt. She weighed 12 lbs 6 oz and was exactly 2 feet long. I can't believe how fast she is growing. My biceps are getting a workout everytime I pick her up!

Our Family

I finally succumbed to peer pressure. All my friends were doing it!. A blog is probably the easiest to share the ongoing happenings of us along with pictures of Sydney. So let's begin with just a quick picture of our first family portrait (taken when Sydney was just 3 weeks old).
